Aheri Agricultural Produce Market Committee was established on 23 October 1979, and as per the Maharashtra Agricultural Produce Purchase and Sale (Regulation) Act 1963 and the rules made thereunder, 1967, the functioning of the Market Committee has been going on since 29 June 1984.
Scope of the Committee
The scope of the Market Committee is limited to the villages of three talukas namely Aheri, Etapalli and Bhamragad.
India is an agricultural country. About 65 percent of the people of this country are engaged in agriculture. Agriculture is the only way of life for Indians. Today, 60 percent of the total national income comes from agricultural income and agriculture plays an important role in the development of the country, therefore, farmers are considered to be the backbone of the economy.
Today, farmers work day and night throughout the year, in harmony with nature, and cultivate crops in their fields. They should get a fair market price for their cultivated agricultural products and should not be exploited by any party. The Market Committee is their rightful place to get a fair market price for their agricultural products. This is the main purpose behind the establishment of the Market Committee and for this, the Market Committee was established. In this Market Committee, e-auction is conducted through the National Agricultural Market (e-NAM) without any kind of interference, due to which farmers are selling their agricultural products through e-auction in a short time. The Market Committee has provided various basic facilities for farmers under the National Agricultural Development Scheme in the main market premises of Aheri. Also, preparations are underway for development works in the sub-market Etapalli for the convenience of farmers, and various infrastructure facilities will be created. With the cooperation of all of us, this market committee will continue to make progress in providing all the facilities to the farmers.
The main market of the committee
The committee's main market premises are at Krishnapur and the market area is 3.89 ha. R. Six godowns of 200,400,500,250, 1000 MT have been built in the main market premises, as well as a grain sifting machine is available. Wells, taps and borings are available for drinking water. Also, auction sheds, open otters, hamal bhavans, toilets are separate for men and women, there is a protective wall on both sides and the boundary has been closed by barbed wire on one side. CCTV is installed to monitor the farmers' agricultural products. Cameras have been installed. Also, the Market Committee has provided electronic weighing scales to ensure that the electronic scales are weighed on the scales and a 50 MT weighing scale has been installed in the Market Committee premises. LEDs have been installed at the main place to view the daily market prices from the Maharashtra Agriculture Competitiveness Project, the accounts of the Market Committee are kept on the computer using a common accounting system. The auction process is done online due to the National Agricultural Market (e-NAM) scheme. The area of operation of this Market Committee is the tribal area and there are 26 guaranteed price purchase centers in this area, and various facilities are being provided by the Market Committee to all the purchase centers. The Market Committee is implementing a loan scheme for farmers from its own funds. Proposals for the construction of Rashtrasant Tukdoji Maharaj Shetkari Bhavan have been submitted soon in the main market premises and a scheme for providing accommodation and food at affordable prices will be started. Also, the committee premises will be completely cemented in the coming period.
The committee's secondary market premises
The committee has a secondary market premises at Etapalli and there is 1.02 hectares of land owned by the committee there. The market committee is planning to construct various facilities there and the plan for this has been approved by the senior office. It is planned to build a new office and godown soon and start the auction process and mortgage scheme.
Controlled agricultural products
The following agricultural products have been brought under control by this market committee within the scope of the committee. The controlled agricultural products have been announced as paddy, rice, cotton, barbati, kultha, gram, wattana, sesame, moong, mot, maize, jowar, soybean, sunflower, chavadi, yerandi, cattle, sheds and sheep etc.
Since 75 percent of the working area of this market committee is covered by forests, the agricultural land is only 25 percent, and since there is no irrigation facility, the farmers are completely dependent on nature and are cultivating crops in the remaining banks. Therefore, due to the lack of crops in the desired quantity, all the agricultural products cannot be sold in the market premises.
